What are Metamorphic Proteins?

Metamorphic proteins are a class of proteins that can undergo significant structural changes under native conditions or in response to specific cellular stimuli, resulting in alterations to their secondary or tertiary structures. Here, we present a fragment-based classifier that can predict metamorphic behavior in protein sequences with an average accuracy of 84.7% and a Matthew’s correlation coefficient (MCC) of 0.69.
